Keith Zawistowski, AIA, GC

Keith Zawistowski is a Registered Architect. He was born in New Jersey, USA and studied architecture at Virginia Tech. Keith partners with his wife Marie Zawistowski in teaching and in practice. Marie and Keith met at Auburn University’s Rural Studio while working as students with Architect Sambo Mockbee to design and build a charity house for Lucy Harris and her family. In 2005, they received a Graham Foundation Grant for their study of traditional building practices in Ghana, West Africa, a subject on which they have authored a book. They have since married and established OnSite, LLC to continue their design/build collaboration. In 2008 they joined the faculty at Virginia Tech’s School of Architecture + Design, where they are currently co-teaching Professional Practice, Building Analysis, Building Assemblies, and a Third Year Architecture Studio.
In 2009, they received a Design Excellence Award from the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects for their Arritt Farm House project, situated in Alleghany County, VA. In 2010, they received an Award for Excellence in Creative Achievement from VA Tech School of Architecture + Design. They are also the recent recipients of the 2011 NCARB Grand Prize for the Integration of Practice and Education in the Academy.
