Henry Richard Hollander is Coordinator for Outreach and Alumni relations at Virginia Tech’s Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center (WAAC). He received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architecture from Virginia Tech.
For Virginia Tech and the WAAC Henry has designed, managed and produced international, national, local and student design competitions and exhibits. Notable projects include: The Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial, The Women in Military Service to America National Memorial, U.S Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, U.S. Air Force Memorial, Frederick Douglass National Memorial and Gardens, Tinner Hill Cultural Center, Embassy of Switzerland-The Architecture of Ticino Exhibit, and the FEMA Design security with civility. Adjunct faculty critic for student design reviews, Management of Japanese student exchange program and coordination of numerous student field studies.
He is also the owner of Hollander Associates in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Hollander Associates is an award winning design firm specializing in architecture, architectural and environmental graphics, exhibits and architecture design competitions. Mr. Hollander’s clients include Federal, State and local government agencies; the American Institute of Architects at the national and local level; the academic world including public and private Universities; private U.S. and foreign industry; private foundations and a broad range of architecture firms. Henry also serves as design chairman and on the board of Directors for the Frederick Douglas Gardens and National Memorial in Washington, DC.
