Michael takes a cross-disciplinary approach to architecture that utilizes ecological paradigms, specifically those found in horticulture and agricultural operations. He was honored with an M. Arch Thesis Award from the University of Michigan for his design research on the co-opting of gardening techniques to transform domestic architectural conventions.
Michael is a licensed architect, LEED accredited professional, and principal at VanderGoot Ezban Studio, an office that engages in architecture projects, furniture design, and theoretical speculation. He comes to Virginia Tech after teaching design at the University of Michigan.
