New Student Orientation 2017

July 18-26, 2017

New freshmen undergraduate students in the College of Architecture & Urban Studies (CAUS) will attend one of five first-year orientation sessions:

  • Tues., July 18 - Wed., July 19
  • Wed., July 19 - Thurs., July 20
  • Thurs., July 20 - Fri., July 21
  • Mon., July 24 - Tues., July 25
  • Tues., July 25 - Wed., July 26

College academic advising sessions will occur on the second day of the two-day orientation schedule — on July 19th, 20th, 21st, 25th, & 26th — beginning at 8:30 am in Goodwin Hall room 190. After a brief introduction, new School of Architecture + Design (A+D) students will be escorted to Cowgill Hall to meet with academic advisors. Parents will have an opportunity to meet with A+D faculty and administrators and ask questions and then will be escorted to Cowgill Hall room 300 to be reunited with the students. The advising and course registration process should conclude by approx. 10:45 am each day, after which, beginning at 11:00 am in Cowgill Hall, room 300, the A+D Student Computing Coordinator will give a presentation for students and parents and answer questions about the School of Architecture + Design’s computer requirements.

An orientation meeting for new A+D graduate students at the main campus in Blacksburg is planned on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, beginning at 1:30 pm in Cowgill Hall, room 300.
