Dr. Franz Schulze, Betty Jane Hollander Professor Emeritus of Art, Forest Lake College, Chicago, will be lecturing on the topic ‘Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - Farnsworth House.’ The lecture is part of the second-year architecture course ARCH 2034: The Art of Building
Professor Dr. Schulze, a trained art historian, is one of the most eminent art historian on modern architecture in America. He has won most awards for scholarly achievements and publications in his discipline. It is needless to say that his research has been published widely. Among other books, Schulze is the author of the landmark publication Mies van der Rohe: A Critical Biography (Chicago and London: The University of Chicago Press 1985).
Professor Schulze will be in Blacksburg from Monday evening through Wednesday afternoon. He has also agreed to present his most recent scholarship on Ludwig Mies van der Rohe during a seminar of the Henry H. Wiss Center for the History and Theory of Architecture on Wednesday morning (please contact Prof. Dr. Humberto Rodriguez-Camilloni for additional information).
